cracked lower unit

I am pretty sure I know the answer here but I am not familiar with Volvo outdrives.. Had a boat I am looking at and found this big old crack in the lower unit. Haven't had the lube drained or any other inspection done. Guess it was due to water intrusion/winter freeze as it doesn't look like impact damage and the boat was kept in Ohio (cold winters). Also expect that the lower unit is toast. It also looks like a really tough spot to do any repair.

So my only reasonable option is to ask for a new lower unit or just walk away. Wanted to get some expert opinions and perspective from people that might have dealt with this on any likelihood that the lower unit isn't toast or repair options. Besides a new lower unit.

Was looking forward to getting back in to boating before the season ended on me here..
