cracked cooling manifold causes 140 OMC

Hi guys,<br />I would love to know what you guys think the causes of a cracked cooling manifold on a 140 OMC would be, over heating?, bad manifold? signs of major damage from overheating?<br />Any input would be great.<br />Thanls

Well Pete,<br />A little background info would Help.....<br />But, Yes... Overheating Will Crack Manifolds.....<br /> This is Much More Likely, than a "Bad" Manifold(as in New)....<br /><br /> signs of overheating Causing major damage <br />Yep...<br /><br />As Charlie says, You otto be Looking Deeper for More Damage.......

What these guys are trying to say ,is look very carefully for freeze damage.Ask if it was winterized before storage .Check the oil for signs of water intrusion then run a good 45 minutes then check it again.

Thanks for the input<br />Motor does not run and the boat is one I was looking at. Have not yet bought it, just trying to learn before I buy anything. The boat is in So cal, so freezing not very likely; yet the guy who owns it said is was stored in AZ but it has an Iowa sticker on it from way back.?? so go figure......<br /> My guess is it has not run in about 10 years or so. Current owner say it was brothers does not quite know history etc etc but seem to imbellish the info about it.

Point Blank<br /><br />If I were you I'd go find another boat.<br /><br />There are wayyyyyy to many unknowns about that one yEr lookn at.<br /><br />If the boat is from an area in the country that does not have freeze issues and has a cracked manifold, I'd say that engine was cooked real good and has major damage inside.<br /><br />stay clear... honestly.
