Cracked Block or not?

I ran my 2 stroke 1994 20 hp mercury outboard for several minutes like i do every 2 weeks when not in use with muffs on. The tell tail water was coming out. I stepped aside for 2-3 minutes and came back and the tell tail was not draining water. I shut the motor off, checked the water hose and the water inlet and restarted the engine. The water was coming out of the tell tail fine. I shut the engine off and removed the 2 spark plugs to inspect them and did not find any oil residue on them like normal. Could the block have cracked in this short time and water washed off the oil on the plugs. Any help in checking for a cracked block would be appreciated including what to look for and what tests i can do? Thanks

If the block cracked you would see water in the cylinders in some form. Any sign of over heating ? Run a compression check....
