I'm thinking about buying a 78 Ski Tique, but the gelcoat is pretty badly spider cracked - to the point of lifting and coming off. The problem is mostly on the sides below the waterline. Does this mean that the fiberglass has soaked up a lot of water? Am I going to do more harm by using it for a few weeks this summer before repairing it?

sea horse<br />There is nothing that using a '78 model for one more summer is going to do to harm it. Enjoy it.<br />Concern yourself with items like, does the blower work?, are the fuel hoses (fill, vent, engine line) rotten and need to be replaced?, is the fuel tank it's self in good shape?, is the strut bearing ok?, rudder packing, shaft seals, exhaust hoses ok?, trailer wheel bearings checked, tires?<br />These items and others will spoil the weekend or risk life and limb. Gelcoat blisters are like<br />"zits" on a pretty face. Save the chore for fall.<br />Backfire ;)

Backfire,<br />Thanks for the reality check -- BTW do you have an estimate of the weight of a ski tique + trailer? Its a correct craft trailer. <br />Sea Horse
