crack on manifold

I jb welded the block 305 the boat my uncle gave me with a cracked block anyway i fired it up last night and found another crack on the exaust manifold i was just wondering when do you not jb weld this crack is preety big you can actually see inside the manifold. replace jb weld or have a welder weld it thank you for your replys.

Replacing the mani is the way to go but if cost is an issue I have done same repair with marine tex and jb weld with very good results.If you decide to repair make sure you get the repair surfaces as clean as you possibly can and wipe with acetone after cleaning and make the mani as warm or hot as you can with a heat gun just before you apply the jb or marinetex.DONT put too much hardener,the right amount or a little less will make a better repair.Charlie

Thanks for the replys and i went ahead and ordered a new one today i figured a free boat i might as well put some money in it i hope there is no more cracks.I will let you know how it goes.

Before making any more investments run boat on hose or lake let it come up to temp keep a eye on oil level, chevy is prone to crack the lifter vally under intake manifold you can not see this.<br />if oil level comes up on stick she is filling with water. that preaty much ends that engines life! good luck AD
