So last season I used Star Brite 081900NC waterproofing for my boats cover. Wasn't happy with it because the entire season it was oozing this oily residue onto the sides of the hull that were hard to clean off.

It seems to have good reviews so not sure why it was doing it but I'd rather not use anything than have those dirty ugly streaks down the sides of the boat all summer long.

Anything else out there?

You most likely treated dirty canvas.Canvas should be clean before treated.Charlie

Oh could be, so if it's clean it wouldn't be oozing the oils from the waterproofer? It "looked" clean.

Whats a good way to clean it short of a washing machine?

Here is how the waterproofer makes my boat look all summer. It's hard to get off, basically I need wipe it with acetone or buff it with compound.

2 things.First visit the sunbrella website and follow the instructions on cleaning fabric.I recommend a large storage bin or bathtub depending how how large the canvas is.I also recommend a hand washing gently. You may be shocked at how dirty the water becomes so you may want to wash twice and rinse 3 times.Hang to dry.Second thing is to polish the fiberglass where you are getting the streaks. After polishing apply a coat of wax.The future streaks will come off with a damp cloth.Charlie
