cover support slats

I am using them in a fishing boat. How far should I space them. I have them 35" apart. Is this too far apart to keep rain from puddling. thanks

How about a couple of inflated car or truck innertubes in boat to support your cover? Might be quicker, easier and better than screwing with the slats? Just an idea for you. Good Luck!
