There are couple of things the engine is doing that i never noticed before the rebuild. There is a little exhaust smoke coming out of the water exit on the midleg,I never noticed that before. Also when i hook up muffs to it and run it there is water coming out of the hole that the shift rod goes, i never noticed that before either. Has a brand new pump and impeller and it pumps like a champ. Hopefully its one of those things thats normal and just noticed because my guard is up because of the rebuild. If it seems abnormal please let me know.

Re: Couple of questions after rebuild

It would help if we knew the engine-year and make as well as the drive year and make.

The smoke could just be the assembly lube burning off.

Exhaust smoke and steam coming from the midleg is normal.

Probably more so now, as you should be running 25:1 oil ratio for break-in after the rebuild.

Water coming from the shift shaft hole is normal too.

Happens more with a new impeller, as the water flow is increased. And if running at idle, the water is not being pushed out of the leg as it does when running higher rpm.
