anyone have any pro's or con's to running a left hand motor as a single?
I've got a dealer telling me that the lower end on lefty's are actually beefier than right turning models(yamahas). why would this be? my only concern is motor torque, not so much steering but listing.any thoughts?

What??? The lower end is beefier?? They use the same dang parts. I think you need to find another dealer. I can't say as I've used a single left turning motor for an extended period of time, but I have used it when the right motor went tits up. I couldn't tell the difference, but again, I still had the other sitting next to it.

Howdy, Fish4fun. Left rotation engines work just fine as singles. The small amount of torque steer at low speed pulls left instead of right.

The downsides are that Props are a lot harder to find and I would expect the resale value to be lower than the right handed engine.

Re sky at night. . .
JB :)

I agree with JB, exact same unit, just not the "standard", If lower ever went bad, you could replace it with RH unit. Props are much less available, and prop shops with a left hand anvil are fewer for repairs. I would expect to get a good deal on the motor if running it as a single or I would buy standard rotation. You should watch the guy telling you it's somehow beefier, sounds like a slick salesman to me having difficultly moving the lefty.

JB nailed it. It'll work fine. You should be able to get a smokin deal on a left over orphan lefty.
