Are there any major concerns I should have in considering buying a used left hand rotation ob, for a single installation, other than there are less opportunities for buying used props and the like, that i should be considering? 135hp Merc. Bluewater

Re: Counter motor spin

thats about it. prop selection may be limited. other than that its mostly a moot point.

Re: Counter motor spin

Cemiii,
I don't know if we are talking about the same motor or not but a guy in alameda has a 1999 135 bluewater for sale on craigs list for 3600 I emailed him and he didn't say anything about it being counter rotating.
I was going to buy it to upgrade the power on my starcraft but found out it weighs like 50lbs more than the merc 125 and I only have a 75 on there now.

http://www.craigslist.com/eby/boa/96991912.html

Re: Counter motor spin

Same motor. Lady owned it and thoght it worth more than was. Motor was in fairly rough condition. Lot of barnacle feet, apparently dropped during take off, cracked lower cowl. badly rusted yokes. paint showing some pitting.
add would have led one to believe it was mostly a Tahoe motor. She did not tell me either that it was the counter twin to another sold motor.

At any rate, most buyers did not show up and I bought it from her 2600, but not before i had purchased a rh prop. for it! need one? spent a full day cleaning it up and repainting quite a bit. replacing a 60 hp on a 25' pontoon boat.
