Hi, I've been reading this forum for about 8 months now and see that there is a lot of help out there! Here's my problem, and forgive me as this will be a little long. I purchased this motor last fall and only bought it with out trying it out as compression tests were done and it ran and sounded great. So here's my problem. Last fall when I tucked her away, I put stabilizer in and poured some oil in the cylinders. This spring I bought some new plugs for it and the the number on them is QL78YC, here's the stupid thing and there will be a few. I just noticed tonight that the old plugs didn't have the "Q" in front of them? They are Champion plugs. When I fired her up this spring, she coughs and sputters and will back fire at idle. I put the old plugs back in and no change. I took it out last weekend and went for a little rip, starts like a dream, but when slowly accelerating....it coughs and sputters. I have learned that it's the 2+2 carb set up. When getting up to speed, sputters a bit, but then it purrs like a kitten...No I don't have a tach yet, but understand about the 2 lower carbs kicking in at about 1800 RPM's. So I went out and purchased some of the SeaFoam that I hear so much about on the forum. When I took the air box off, I noticed that the number 1 carb butterfly was a little shy of being WO and the other 3 didn't seem to be at the same level. I didn't mess with it as I have ordered a manual to hopefully do the Lync and Sync. I did the procedure for the SeaFoam and it didn't seem to make much of a difference? How do you get the SeaFoam into the lower carbs as it just seemed to dribble out? I would assume because of the 2+2 set up? I should also mention that all of this, (most) of this was done in the driveway while on the muffs. I will also note that the number 1 cylinder plug? (top), was a little wet and the second one from the top down is dry. The bottom 2 wet as I assume they are not firing due to the 2+2 set up. I know quite a bit about 2 strokes to know that the number 1 plug seems to be flooding out, or not firing properly. It doesn't make sense as the butterfly is open less that the others, meaning less fuel? I know, check for spark, so I would think it's not firing? Why would this change over the winter months? I'm just confused as it ran great last fall. Hope I didn't miss anything or stretch this too long
