Cost to Swap motors...

We are having motors swapped (steering, controls, etc) between two boats. One is a 120 Force and the other is an 85 Evinrude. To avoid us getting taken for way too much money, can someone give a a clue as to how much $ a job like this should cost. (Done at a Marina)<br /><br />thanks alot

I would suspect that it should take at very most 4 hours. That would be if they ran into big problems getting steering and stuff to fit right. If all went well, shouldn't take more than 1-2 @ whatever they get hourly, but this is just a guess. Tell us how it comes out

The shops around here in AR are $60.60. I don't know what is with the .60, but I have seen a bunch like that. You aren't necessarily nuts, the force will give a little more power, just stay on top of things. BTW if you drop your lower unit, I had a 90 hp 90 model. It had a rubber boot on the shift linkage that had a hole and let water in. I heard they are bad about that, anyhow, their is a replacement kit that uses better housing. Might want to look at that if you get a chance. Good Luck

Or you could get a couple of burly buddies, and a bit of malted beverages for afterwards, and do it yourself. Its not hard to do, just a little labor intensive. You just look at how things are set up, and reproduce the setup when swapping. You just need to make sure you seal any bolt holes that you have to make in the transom, and any that are left from the different bolt pattern of the other engine. Good luck....
