What is a fair price to have a shop do the impeller and housings? I know the pump kit is like $50-60 but total what do you think. I want to get some boating in and just want to pay to have it done.

It is a 73' Sea Ray SRV 190 with merc 120HP I/O.

I am assuming it is an alpha or pre alpha drive.

Our shop charges $130 +patrs.

I have seen others on here say it cost them up to $250.

It is an easy (big money maker for the shops) job for any handy diy.

I've never done the job myself, but found video on YouTube that might give me the confidence to try it:

As with all videos of this sort, there's always something in the job that's harder than it appears on the video. For instance, I imagine actually getting the lower unit off after the screws have been removed takes a little effort, as well as getting it back on. Also, the video doesn't show if the wire that is connected to the LU was disconnected or if there was enough slack for it to just dangle.

edit: Oh, sorry. Your post was for a Merc 120 I/O. I stumbled across it lurking through "New Posts" and didn't read which Topic it was for. Saw the words "Merc" and "impeller" and immediately thought of Merc outboard impeller. Sincerest apologies. -Ken
