New here, bough a used boat last year and need to service it this year.

The bellows have water leaking through it when I flush the motor. So I am needing to get it replaced, from reading service manual looks like I should have the gimbal bearings and ujoints checked as well. My question is, how much should I expect this expense to be?

Boat: 2003 Monterey 245CR
Motor: Volvo Penta 5.7 GI-C
Drive: Volvo Duoprop DP-SM 1.95

Had back surgery about 3 months ago, don't really feel like building a sterndrive jack/holder and removing the sterndrive myself to replace the bellows.

Thank you for your help guys!

Above $300, under $500, including parts.

Thanksfor the fast response. And if I need to have the ujoints/gimbal bearing replaced would it be more? or was that price including replacement?

I got my u-joints, bellows and gimbal replaced for around $350 but I supplied the $100 kit (eBay). Their parts were much more expensive.

That all depends on what they find when the drive is pulled. It may need u-joints,gimbal bearing and input shaft seal from having water in it that much.

I would expect 500 would be the very minimum..

I noticed the leak when I plugged water hose into the engine flush port, and ran the engine. It had a steady stream of water pouring out of the lower rubber.

Doesn't the exhaust bellows on this Volvo have preformed holes in it that will leak water when run on the hose?

If this was the lower bellows and water was pouring out the outside of the boat that is normal..
The exhaust bellows have slits in the bottom for exhaust relief.
Now if water was coming inside the boat then a whole other problem.

Sorry James...posting at the same time...:)
