Hi All,

After owning 3 boats it's finally time to invest in replacement canvas for the first time.

Having never replaced canvas before, how much am I looking at to replace the cockpit cover on my 21' cuddy? I know it won't be cheap. The materials do not have to be top of the line; no cheap stuff either, however the quality of the craftsmanship is of utter importance.

I'm thinking somewhere around $400-500. Also, if anyone knows of a reputable marine upholsterer in Eastern Long Island please feel free to share. Thanks, all.

Re: Cost for New Cockpit Cover?

I was just quoted $650 for a custom Sunbrella cover, from a place called North Shore Marine Canvas. Checked out the website, here: http://www.nsmarinecanvas.com/

The work looks good from the photos. It is also a mobile service, where they come to you to take measurements, etc. Still seems a little pricey...

I was also just quoted $795 from another place, and I have to bring it to them...

I was quoted 600 for sunbrella, custom made for my sun runner 230 23 ft shop in Lk Hopatcong nj. Top drawer work.
You bring the boat to her, she garages it in her work shop and manufacture your cover.

sundowner; it cost us $800 to have a cockpit cover made for our searay this spring. we had it custom made to fit the snaps ect. that were all ready on the boat. we used sunbrella and it comes from the transom over the windsheild and snaps at the bottom of the windsheild.
there were only 3 shops that do this work here and they were all about the same price.

All the price you guys have quoted are MUCH better than what you can get it done for in Peoria, IL!
Sundowner, that $650 sounds about right. I know a place in Lakeland, FL that would do it for about the $450 you want, but he's the least expensive I have EVER heard of. And he's 1300 miles away from you!

$450 would be nice, however, I'm going to do a little more research, but will probably end up going with the $650 deal.
