Have some corrosion on SS bolts in aluminum outdrive. Not a major problem but does anyone have any suggestion to keep corrosion to a minimum? Anode are working fine. How about marine grease?

Thanks

Merc recommneds using 2-4-C Teflon lubricant. It's what I use and it works fine. You can usually get it at West Marine or any decent Marina.

You can also use Gasket Sealing Compound or Aviation Permatex.

I'm curious exactly which bolts (and drive) are you talking about?
Any SS bolt that has good conductivity with an anode-protected drive shouldn't be corroding. My boat has spent 6 months/year out of the past 20 years in saltwater, and the ss bolts are perfect........the regular steel swivel shaft is another story, though.

true the bolt won't corrode, but if installed into aluminum, there is a chance of siezing due to the contact of dissimilar metals

anode hardware is sold with a blue coating on the threads to ease the removal when replacing anodes, i have never had an issue removing them

if you must coat a SS bolt with anything, i would use perfect seal gasket sealer

The best preventive is to remove the bolt annually, chase the female threads, reinstall with a light grease coating ...

Wouldn't permatex anti-seize compound be the option for this?
