Hello people. Quick reel maintanence question. I just "won" an older 6/0 pennn senator reel from ebay and it has rather severe pitting and tarnishing. The chrome? (chrome-plated metal) on the reel has numerous brown specks and I'd like to get everything as clean as possible. I've heard suggestions from coca-cola to salt-x, but I want to hear some tried and true cleaning methods that get results. Thanks.

Just buy a new one. They are fairly cheap

Leave it be. The first good fish will take that "I wish it looked new" feeling you have for your reel. All the polish in the world won't make it a better reel... or.. if you get bored polish it... you'll never get it looking new though. a rough buff with some fine steel wool and rubbing compound will get you there, eventually
