I have bought a 2001 Mercury outboard & I have a problem I'm not sure that I know how to fix. The problem is the guy that owned this motor before I bought it lived right along the river and he left the boat & motor in the water all summer. I guess the motor was too heavy for him to tilt up so he just let it hang in the water all of the time. Now the lower unit & prop are corroded pretty bad and I don't know how to fix it so it will look better. It has corroded so bad that it looks like it has eaten into the metal on the lower unit & of course the paint has peeled off where the corrosion is. How do I go about fixing this? Any & all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Glenn
