I have a three bank, three stage on board charger in my baot. Am I supposed to plug it when when I get back from the lake and leave it plugged in until I go again (2 or 3 times a month?) Or should I charge them until the green light comes on and then unplug it? I have been doing the latter and suspect I may be damaging the batteries as they don't seem to hold a charge for very long.

Re: Correct way to charge batterie

logrady, I also have the 3 bank charger and I leave mine plugged up till I get reay to go.
The green light tells you it is charged up, but it will kick back to charging when the batteries drop enough. That is one reason to use only deep cycle batteries. They are made to be charged like that. A regular battery won't stand up as good.
Hope this helps some.

If they are not holding a charge like they should, you probably need new ones!
