I should know this, but don't.

What is the correct fluid level, and how/where to check it.

Here is a photo of the system. It is the original, Prestolite system, sealed, not vented.

I know where to fill, but can find no way to check the level, or what the level should be.

You check it the same place you fill. Tilt motor all the way up and fill the tube till it's full. That's it.

Ok, was worried about over filling.
Other units have had a fill level hole, or a dip stick, or they stated "fill to the bottom of the hole".
It was down about 10" from the top of the fill neck, way below the round reservoir. Surprised it still worked.
Filled it to the start of the fill neck now.
