This is the craziest thing I've ever seen while fishing. A buddy and I were fishing on the gulf at Pascagoula about ten years ago. We had fished for specs all day and had come back to the ramp to load up. There was a police car and an ambulance parked on the ramp with some Emt's working on a fellow. They were wrapping his head up in a bandage and there was a dead bird on the gurney with him. Seems that after a few too many adult beverages and lack of fish, these two guys get the bright idea to catch some Coots by chasing them down with the boat. At full speed they race across the water, one man driving and the other on the bow with a large dip net. The plan worked all to well. The guy in the front netted a fair sized coot, and the force and speed of the boat helped him get it in the boat. Problem was, as it was coming in the boat, it hit him in the face. The bill of these birds is long and narrow, perfect for spearing fish and human skulls. Bird literally speared his forehead and got stuck so hard that niether of them could get it out. Poor bird had to be beheaded for this idiot. Emts took him to the local hospital to get the bill removed. Talk about a hangover. Never did see those guys again thank god.
