i have searched and could not find the asnwer that i was looking for... my question is am i able to take a 351 windsor out of a truck and put it in my 76 silverline nantucket 22 vht, and use a radiator to cool it? i think i have most of the parts to make it a marine motor, but i just thought i would ask and see if it had been done before or if other boats are radiator cooled.

thanks!

Re: cooling question

The "radiator cooling" is done with a heat exchanger using water as the medium not air.

It's been done but on out on the bayou...or so I've been told.

The problem is the radiator needs a constant supply of COOL air.

Mull that over for a while.

Re: cooling question

could i use electric fans with a hole on the stern to bring in cool air/ take out hot air, and yes they would be mounted up high. or maybe a scoop of some sort off the side or top of the boat to "catch" the air. just a thought, i had these ideas running thru my head and they wont leave me alone!

Re: cooling question

The manifolds and rubber connector tubes are cooled by by-pass water, so you would have to supply that to the manifolds. or you would fry your exhaust system.

Kentucky?

If you take the time to look at a Mercruiser maintenance manual, you'll see how the cooling system operates. Why do you want to reengineer a system that already works?
If these ideas won't leave you alone, what's going to happen when you install a truck engine in the hull?
