Ok that makes sense,,,next step for me is to remove the module...when it warms up some...few months to go here in Canada. Just trying to figure out everything I should look at and have done before summer. When I remove the module it will be a good time to take apart the raw water pump to inspect.

Along with the drill and tap for the hose fittings, bead blasting the cover I sealed the water jacket with POR 15. Held up well for several years before I sold the boat

Ok I'm not sure where the water jacket is but I will probably have a better idea when I open it up...this motor is completely new to me...im used to old carb motors lol

Well I got the cover off the cool fuel...not much paint flaking. Filters were definitely time to be changed. But 3 out of 6 bolts snapped off the cover. Tried an easy out but they wouldn't budge...lots of corrosion in the threads

If manufactures would just use anti seize it would help a lot. Use a left had drill or try shock the studs and pb blaster. With that much in the filter I would pull the injectors and look at the injector screen baskets

I wouldn't waste any time on that unit, you have corrosion by the o ring, and more in your water fitting area, which is not easy to tap because how thin that area is. If you tackle that you still could have a breach in the near future between the gas and water chamber.

Doug Russell Marine has reconditioned units for $500. Plastic fittings and tested.

All that blackness in your filter is upstream from the paint issue and I theorized it to be slowly dissolving fuel lines, it's the only thing black between that filter and the plastic fuel tank. After servicing my CF3 every year for 6 years that filter was always black, but never effected the motors performance

Many are selling the units and doing just what your trying to accomplish. Buying a used one is just that a used one. Nothing wrong with used so long as it was repaired correctly. At least doing your own you will know how it was done.

Doug Russell as well as other ebayer's do not list a guarantee other then not DOA, but can buy 6 months for 50.49

Ok I never seen the reconditioned ones which is a good option if this one craps out on me. I took it to a machine shop today and tapped the water outlets. Couldn't get many threads but think it's enough to work. And couldn't get the 3 broken bolts out that broke off. Welded nuts on the ends but kept twisting off....the 3 that's left are staggered around the cap...wondering how much pressure is in the fuel pump side and if 3 bolts would hold it.....

There isn't much pressure but I would not use it if your unable to get all the screws back in it. Your life or others around or in is not worth the chance.

Try to drill out the screws and if need be tap and Time-Sert or helicoil
