I hesitate to post craigslist ad links because they can disappear as quick as they appear, and it makes for a frustrating time on the forum when it becomes an irrelevant thread. But this one is a unique boat and I wondered if anyone else has ever seen or is familiar with it. I never saw anything like it myself.

Really cool design & looks in decent shape. It's surprising how frequently you come across unique classics these days. Maybe more sellers because of the economy?? BTW, definitely not my listing!

Edit: well, shoot me, but here's a couple for the record before the listing goes away:

That's a unique find. There's one of those for sale by Seattle too.

Yeah, it has a very aggressive sporty look. Some boats just have a cool look that's hard to define, sorta like certain cars.

I was in my teens and remember those boats well. The trailers were as nice as the Evinrude and Johnson. They were fast and they were soft riding...and they were an expensive boat for the times. Actually I have always thought of them as one would think of an Edsel....a boat before its time!

Are you going to buy it? Heck, if I was closer, I'd strongly consider that project. Bummer I'm have a country away.

A buddy of mine had one of these in the mid 70's. Don't know how much his boat weighed but the trailer with it looked like you could haul a D-8 Cat on it.

Nope, I have my hands full and my wallet empty!

Thanks for your posting. As of this writing, the CL ad is still there.

Yep, looks like a fun boat. Is that a windshield wiper just ahead of the windshield? And at the top center of the windshield, is that a navigation light? -Ken

Looks kinda cool, looks like an older convertable car with the design. Thanks, I like the older boats, those are the ones that turn my head.

Re: Cool boat, never saw one like this

I have a 67 Johnson surfer I just restored. Not quite as cool looking, actually downright ugly, but a neat old boat from the same era and same maker. Really nice fit and finish for a 42 year old boat. Smooth riding for a trihull. You guys are right about the trailer, they don't make them like that anymore. What made the Johnsons cool was everything was made in house. It's wasn't pieced together by several different companies. And after they made the boat, Johnson made their own trailer custom made for the unique hull. No other boat I've had experience with had a trailer so well suited for the boat. Loads and unloads easily, and is perfectly supported. It has a very unique jack system. The tongue pivots, it's hard to explain but works very well. The OMC stringer drive has lots of people ready to bash it, but it also has it's strong points.

Heres mine...

I have always had a thing for newer modern boats but am slowly starting to fall in love with the older boats. I think that boat is one of the coolest boats I have ever seen. Its a combination of cute, sporty, classic etc... I would buy that boat in a heart beat if it where local. I have no clue what the market value is but I think its worth every penny.

Gotta love old tri-hulls, cheap, stable, lots of room for the length, and fast enough!

Real neat, nitsuj! Fantastic job & looks great, like you're really enjoying it. Those seats look real comfortable.

(Better make your pics smaller though before the mods bust you!;))
