Please give me some advice. I want to go to diesel and I found a volvopenta d41p 6cyl turbo diesel but I don't have the dimensions to see if it will fit my boat. I have a 23ft. sportcraft with a chevy small block. The weight of the volvo is about 1080lbs.I don't know the weight of the chevy. Could someone one please let me know if I am going down the right road or give me some suggestions on the right motor. thank you

At crankshaft level, you need a minimum of 56" to be able to install the engine.
You will also need to change the drive gear ratio. Sure hope it's a DP drive.
Then you will need a different exhaust pipe, Fuel tank return line, different insturments and wiring harness. It's also over double the weight of a gas engine.
Here is a drawing for the 41

http://www.volvo.com/NR/rdonlyres/A0577163-F52D-4CDA-971F-30EF6C21DA0B/0/3590476_01.pdf

Thanks for the info Don, sounds like you saved me alot of work. The reason I wanted to go with a diesel was I'm kind of nervous with the gas engine. the fumes and all. But from what you told me it sounds like alot of work converting to a diesel. What would you recommend for a gas engine and drive unit.
