Hi all, I would like to apologize for calling everyone here an asshole. I was in a bad mood because of 5 people in my department at work got laid off.

OK, if anyone is still reading I have a question for you.

I have a Yamaha 60hp motor, I plan on breakin it in tomorrow and doing some walleye fishing.

I have been reading on here than a lot of manufacturers use one motor for several horsepowers.

I looked at Yamaha's website web page

and the 60 and 70 are indentical. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to convert the 60 to a 70?

( o )....sorry couldn't resist, the 70 hp is probably tuned differently than the 60 hp. A mechanic could probable get the extra 10 hp, but it'll cost you money and void the warranty. It would have made more sense to put up the extra money when first buying your engine...should have consulted JB et al first.

well the max hp capacity on the plate is 60 (this is for tiller) so I needed to buy a 60hp motor) of course what happens under the hood of that 60hp motor is another thing. As long as the case cover says 60!

Hi Aaron.

The least expensive and most reliable way to get 70hp is to buy a 70 and put the 60 bonnet on it.

If you have to cheat, at least do it smart.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

AaronP,
If you exceed the max HP rating for your boat, in addition to voiding the engine warranty, you'll void the hull warranty. There is a reason why manufacturerss recommend a max HP. You should follow this. Make sure to wear your life jacket.

the max HP rating is a fricken joke. This is a 20 foot, 1200 pound all welded tank. The max HP rating for people with steering consoles is 115! But people who use tillers get SCREWED! I don't need a steering console, it just takes up space.

And if the case cover still says 60, who the heck would know any better?

my boat is the bigger one of these two: web page

it is a GREAT boat, smooth riding, and I could park a car in the middle of it.
