I have a galvanized trailer with a 6' wheelbase but the main support beams are only about 30" apart. I want to put my 18' catamaran on it but will need to inatall crossmembers on top of the beams to make it wide enough to attach the bunks. The bunks need to be 48" on center to accomodate the sponsons. My question is how heavydo the cross members need to be given that the bunks will be out on the ends of them? The boat weighs about 2500 pounds loaded.

Ayuh,... I'd think 2"x3'x1/8th" box beam or 2"x4"x1/8th" box beam would be sufficent...
