Been reading about this topic and want to know if my 2002 MFS25A can be converted from tiller to steering wheel drive? I don't need anything but throttle, gear shift, steering. I'm Ok starting and stopping the motor from the electric buttons on the motor. Will save cost or complexity? Will probably take to a dealer to do the work.

You would need the fitting kit
3R0838800MR.C. FITTING PARTS ASSY$47.88

and control cables, as well as steering cable and actual helm (wheel assembly), and the RC box.
3B7Q843601RC BOX, RC5D (MFS4B-C~30C),W/O ELECT START$327.93

Since you are already electric start, you may as well get the RC box with key start. If you have power tilt/trim, you will likely want those switches at the RC box as well.
3B7Q843403RC BOX, RC5B (MFS-15/18B2-15/20D-25/30C EP) W/ ELECTRIC START W/O PTT$496.83
3ACQ843300R C BOX (RC5A) MFS8-30C, M40D2-90A W/PTT/ELECTRIC START$526.98

In addition, there will be significant labor to put it all together.

Paul,

Many thanks for your response! I would like to note that my motor does not have electric tilt/trim. Based on this could I cut cost and go with the $327 RC box in lieu of buying the $496 or the $526 RC boxes mentioned?

Also if you don't mind me asking.....do I need a drag link? do you recommend a brand of steering helm and control cables? And I assume since I don't want any electronic feedback from the engine and only want to mechanically shift, steer, and control speed, I do not need any type of wiring harness?

Thanks again!

Will need a drag link to steer OB with steering cable, Teleflex makes good steering helms & remote cables. Control box comes with wiring harness for kill cord switch and starter key to work from there.

The hook plate comes with the RC fitting kit. If you will be using a Teleflex-style push-pull cable, you will want
3E0-84905-1
Drag Link H

Appreciate this help.....note that I have found an RC that came off a 70 hp Tohatsu. It appears to have all the control cables I need. Any idea if it will work with my MFS25A? Suppose I need the part number off of it?

That will certainly operate the throttle/shift, although the cables may be incorrect length, or old and difficult to operate, so they may need replaced. You will probably end up doing some electrical splicing to get the rest to work correctly. Likewise, you may need to reverse the handle... looks like it was setup to fit a center console or similar.
