Converting 50hp Mercury from Remote to Tiller

I have a 2000 Mercury 50hp model 50ELPTO. It is currently on a boat with a steering wheel. I would like to convert it to a Tiller for a different boat. Could someone please tell me where the best place is to get the kit to do this? I'd like to do it cheaper than $800 if possible.

Best place to get this, A Mercury Dealer. You can try calling iBoats see if they can get the conversion kit. They show a Parts List

Thanks. Was hoping to find it a little cheaper somewhere else but can't seem to find one anywhere but a dealer.

Last summer I priced out a Conversion kit for something like that, Electric Remote to Electric Tiller, cost was over $1400, plus labour. Kit included a Carb, When he called he was crowing how much he had saved buying the remote motor vs. the tiller, about $500...

I saved more than enough to cover the cost to convert. Was just checking to see if there was anything cheaper out there.

Wow I just converted my 96 45hp tiller jet to console last summer. You should be able to sell alot of your parts on Ebay.

The Motor I bought was on a 1961 MFG that is in really good condition. Not sure I want to remove any of the controls from it.
