Converting 110v to 12v for marine toilet

I have a Jabsco Marine Head I am installing in a jumbo sized boat house that runs on 110v, not 12v.
Toilet-http://www.defender.com/product.jsp?path=-1|51|806|315133|823306&id=567898

I need to convert my 110v to 12v by hardwire or by plugging the toilet in to an outlet by way of a 110v to 12v converter plug.
In theory the outlet system should work, but I'm not sure if the toilet will need a certain surge for the flush/ macerator that a trickle charger cannot accommodate.
My Dad and I thought we could hook up a small motor battery instead, that could provide a burst if needed.

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

You can get a 12V supply in about any amp you need. Just look at the tag on the motor or instructions.

Mine is a 25 amp fuse. You will need a supply at least that large. I would play it safe and go with a 30 or more

I'm assuming you have at least one 12 v battery? Don't go through the expense of a 12v power supply, just hook it to the battery!

there has to be 12 v systems some where on the boat.......as said above....take the feed from that.

I'd say that either way will work...small battery on trickle charger, or hook to existing 12v system. If you are worried about running your existing battery down, between charging cycles (engine run time) next time you buy one get more capacity.

boat houses don't have engines..... use a battery and a float charger

Re: Converting 110v to 12v for marine toilet

Thanks everyone.
Basically here are some details I left out.

It is a one of a kind boathouse. Meaning it was hand made almost 40 years ago. It is over 60ft long, steel pontoons and weights more than 60 thousand bounds.
It has a 110V electric system with 50amps feeding it from shore.

As for the toilet...
I have an outlet next to it right now, so my ideal situation is to plug it right in. Obviously I'll need to wire it into some switch. Does the battery, automatic battery float charger make the most sense with the opportunity to plug right in? Or is the question of "burst of energy" that are needed for a flush a hard one to answer?

It sounds like a small motorcycle batt which an automatic battery float charger is the best option.

Thoughts?

the cheapest easiest solution is the one I suggested.... otherwise you will need a 12v power supply... say 30 amp.... likely a couple hundred dollars
