convert Mariner to throttle controls

Hi chaps,

Several threads asking about switching to remotes, but not a lot of info about converting a remoted (is that a word) outboard to run off a tiller.

The motor: Mariner 15hp, serial:09685881 (Belgian).

Currently has linkage set up for remotes, I guess most of this will need to be removed). It's got a tiller fitted, but no throttle cables, and more importantly no obvious way of connecting any cables to the throttle.

I've found a schematic on the web http://www.ishopmarine.com/ishop/js...&isForSupStore=false&cCatFilter=&eCatSupFldr=
of the parts I need, but I'm still not sure that I've got it all worked out. I figure that I need parts:
3,4,5 and 6 to change gear, and part 1 to run the throttle cables to.
Where I'm stuck is figuring out where part 1 attaches to the outboard and how the cables are routed from the tiller to part1, then onto the throttle.

Anyone got a photo?

I'm off now to clean all the dirt off the engine - it really shows up badly under the flash.

OK, with the side shift models, do the cables run around the back of the motor (see my childlike drawing), while the tiller shifts route the cable round the front, under the carb?

Most side shift models were Mariner as there are not many Mariner engines in our area I have only worked on 1 side shift 3 or 4 years ago and can not recall the specifics of the engine but recall it as a much simpler system. The troyyle cables are differant between the to models the parts link shows that for specific differances check the part numbers between the 2 models.
