A finally ended up buying one of these since I was buying a new drawbar anyways to get more rise. I like how easy it is to swap out the ball size. Anyone have them and hate them? Love them? Just curious because I don't see many posts about them.

I like them, but i leave my drawbars in almost all the time and i have one that is froze up and it takes some serious work to change the balls.

Unless you change them frequently, they freeze up easy.

Re: Convert-a-ball

i have several sets.. they will freeze up but spray the pin down with a silicon spray and it will stay easy.. also take it off and store in the cab or toolbox will help and put the condom on the stud to keep it clean.. i have one that is wellover two years old that i sprayed with silicon that stays on the hitch and it has yet to freeze up.. also i a second set that i put some moly-grease on it has yet to freeze up..

i like mine because i 3 different ball hitch sizes and 5 trailers all different heights so i have several bases on several bars and just one set of balls.. works great..

Re: Convert-a-ball

I've had one for about two years now. When I am greasing the outboard I pop the ball off the hitch and put some 2-4C on the spindle. Mine has bearings (maybe they all do) and I wouldn't want them to seize up.

Re: Convert-a-ball

I normally leave the drawbar in during the summer, and then take it out over the winter since I rarely tow anything then. As a result I luckily don't have an issue with the hitch freezing into the receiver.

I will definately be leaving the balls in the truck so they don't get stolen. I have been just using my old ball cover over the base. So far so good. Might even pick up another base to put on my other hitch.

Convert-a-ball, adapt-a-ball both basically the same thing. I love them. I've never had one ever even come close to freezing up. When I'm done towing I remove the ball mount. I always felt the reason for a reciever was to save the shins.
