Convert 12 volt to 9 volt

I am looking to convert the 12 volt house battery to 9 volt to power Cree bicycle lights that originally connected to 8.4 volt battery packs. I have been looking around to build a converter but looking for any help with the design or ideas. Thanks.

If they're LED's, they often have a wide voltage range you can use.
Might want to check with the manufacturer.

Cree is a high end LED supplier, so I am sure that these are LED. Agreed with Marc C, they may well run on a wide range of input voltages. Many of these types of things do so.

Ayuh,... 'n then there's the Yankee Engineerin' way,....

A 12v wet cell battery has 6 cells in it, 'n a lead strap crosses over the top, tyin' each cell to the next,...
The straps alternate from side to side,...

As a kid, I had a VW with a 6v system,...
I drilled a hole through the battery case, into the center cross over strap, 'n screwed a stud into it,...
That gave me 2 6v batteries, in a single 12v battery case,...

You could do the same thing, tyin' 4 of the cells, to get the voltage ya need,...
