Conversion kit

Hi every-one,<br /><br />I've just ordered my Stator from the states as I live in the UK, but I've been told I need a conversion kit for the stator but nobody seems to tell me why. <br /><br />I have 1982 merc- 80HP thunderbolt outboard, could somebody explain why I might need a conversion kit.<br /><br />Cheers in advance.

What is the part number of the stator you have ordered?

If you buy a aftermarket you dont need the kit. Mercury updated their stators that required the kit.
