Controls for 1980 115hp Mercury

Are the mercury controls universal to all Mercury engines? Will newer controls work on a 1980 engine?

Don't quote me but I think they will but double check the number of pins on the electrical connection !

Mechanically, newer Merc controls should work with your older Merc, as long as the motor ends of the two cables are the same as your current controls. The electrics will be different, but could be grafted to work. I used my '77 MerControl on my '93 motor, after grafting the electrics.
