Control valve ?

Hi,I have a 86 rude 140,can any one tell me exactly what the water valve does and why ?,its on the starboard side and is linked to the throtle shift linkage .manual says nothing about it. thanks<br />ken

Scary looking, huh? It has to do with the water pressure and the vernatherms at idle. You can eliminate all those hoses and the valve. You'll need to get the thermostat covers and springs from a 1993 or newer V4 looper. <br /><br />Make sure youre using the black vernatherms, not the white ones.<br /><br />Good luck!

KGW.... The original purpose of the water valve is to allow more water to flow through the engine at the higher rpms.
