Hello,
I have a 1976 Johnson 200 outboard on my 75 Seacraft CC. It came when I bought boat and is a mess. I have a 1979 90 HP Johnson I want to mount until I find a good deal on a 140 looper or newer OMC. Question is will the existing control cables from my CC control box work on the 79 90 HP ? . I have the cables from the 90, they came off a side mount box. the fast idle was a lever where the fast idle is a pull out on the existing hardware. It seems as if it should fit and work, but in looking at cables OMC has pre 79 and 79 and up.
Any advice is greatly appreciated
Thanks !

Not 100% sure on this. But, I think the difference is at the control box end. If you're using a '79 with a matching control box you definitely need to use the later model cables. If you're using the earlier control box with the later engine it _might_ be ok to use the earlier cables.
