hello again all , this is probably a really stupid question , but on my throttle control box , on the side of it theres a little black push button that doesnt seem to do anything at all , wondering if you might know what this is for ? it just pushes in kinda like a kill button. but seems to do nothing at all running or stopped .

Re: control box

Sounds like it might have been a safety lanyard switch, and since it doesn't do anything its probably been by-passed.

well that is the kill switch, and it sounds like it's bad, bad meaning you fall out the boat keeps on trucking until it runs around in a circle till it runs aground or nails you first. mine has a little button in the center that is pushed in when lanyard is connected. if the little button is sticking out and the motor's still running then sounds like the switch is bad, or someone unhooked it (bad idea)

Jake,is this 'button' just below he key switch? (not sure wich side you mean). If so,and it's just under 1/2 inch diameter .... it's a rubber cap.Pull it off,and three terminals are available for battery plus, battery negative, and tach signal.

DHP

no dhp its not on the end of the box where the key is , its on the left side right about in the middle , the side that faces you when you are sitting. i assumed it was the safety kill but not sure .

Yep,that's the kill switch.should be a 3 finger plastic piece to keep the button pushed in.If not there the switch is either stuck in,or has been dissabled.

DHP
