CONSUMER REPORTS FOR BOAT MOTORS?

I am considering buying a boat year 2001 with a 150 Hp Johnson motor. Where can I find out more information on boat motors? i.e. Are there problems with Johnsons or which is the best motor etc. <br />Would appreciate any information you can give

Howdy, RRLTD. Start at your library. Then spend an hour or so on this board every day for a week or two.<br /><br />The Johnson 150 is a fine engine. Lots of folk think the Johnson/Evinrudes are the best made (except recent FICHT injected Evinrude V6s). Others swear by Mercury. I think that Yamaha has as large a following as any and I haven't talked to any unhappy Suzuki owners. Very few would nominate FORCE or Mariner. Most of the experts have different favorites depending on year and size. They are pretty unanimous in recommending that you go with an engine sold by a local dealer with an excellent reputation.<br /><br />Red sky at night, sailor's delight.<br />JB
