I have a 2006 115hp mercury optimax. When I accelerate to 5rpm a constant beep occurs. Can someone please help me out.

That is normally an overheat alarm. When was last time waterpump was replaced? Thermostats? Poppit valve?

I just replaced the thermostat last week. I haven't replaced the water pump or the poppit valve.

It also looks like I have a oil leak somewhere along the lower propeller unit. Not sure from where though. Any ideas.

Thermostat cools at idle and slightly above. Poppit then takes over.

If you have had the motor from new, 15 years is a long time for the original waterpump. If you bought it used, it could still be 15 years old. It makes sense to replace the impeller, wearplate and 2 gaskets. If the base or pump top look worn or melted, replace them as well.

Optimax is fuel injected 2 stroke isn't it? 2 strokes burn oil with the fuel. Oily residue can become visible in the exhaust circuit, especially if you do a lot of trolling, and in cold weather...but its not cold right now.....so that's out. Only other oil is in the LU gearbox and it would have to have a leak in the drive shaft seal, prop shaft seal, shift shaft seal or drain and vent screw seals. Milky/yellowish oil and or water droplets would be present in the LU rather than Merc blue-black oil if you had a leak in the LU gearbox casting.

It is just the mercury Blue black oil. I guess after I I change the impeller and the water pump it might clear up.
