I Have a 1995 90hp 3cyl Mercury outboard...Last fall I would get an intermitten solid alarm come on..The oil level was fine and it wasn,t over heating...This spring the alarm is constant...I unpluged the oil level sensor...didn't make any difference...The motor can be off for days and soon as it starts I get a solid alarm there is plenty of water comming out...It doesn't seem to be lacking oil as the exhaust is quit blue and the oil resorvoir does go down...Any suggestion would be appreciated

Re: Constant Alarm

Oil sending unit failures are nothing unheard of on these units. You know you are consuming oil and the oil pump is working, right? So the next step is the sender.Really a pretty easy and inexpensive job by outboard standards.Loosen the oil tank, remove the screws that hold the old sender in, then install the new one.It can happen that the float mounted in the tank can go wacky but there is not a way that I am aware of to check for that possiblity.

Re: Constant Alarm

A constant beep is the temp alarm. Beep...Beep...Beep is the oil alarm. Start by getting a manual and troubleshoot the temp alarm.

Re: Constant Alarm

don't know if its the same on your motor, but I had the same problem on my 1990 115 merc. Traced it to the controll box. something inside shorted to ground which is the same as if your over heat sensor triggered. A constant beep. highly recommend fixing. Easy work, the unit was about $50.<br />h2o
