Console ignition

My nephew has a 55hp Mariner outboard on his boat (W55M Ser # 6A3 578529).<br />I have no idea what year it is. Can you tell me from serial number?<br /><br />He has dual-lever controls , one for shift, one for throttle, and what appears to be a pull choke-control at the console.<br />Can an ignition switch/starter system be installed from the console?<br />Is there a kit available to do this?<br />If this can be done, but no kit is available, what parts are needed to accomplish this.<br /><br />Is this a do-it-yourself job or should he pay a pro?
