Hi all,
After having low compression on my current Johnson I need to repower.
I found a second hand ‘88 Suzuki DT115 nearby that I’m considering to buy.
How reliable are these motors, how easy are they to mantain, what do I need to look put for and would it be worth it to drop $1600 on one? Is it easy to get parts?

The motor runs but needs a carb clean, and I’ll be taking my compression tester.

Thanks,
Vinny

I'm with fazt, that's a lot for a motor of that vintage and i don't see a lot of those motors around at least in my area. Can't speak with experience about ease of finding parts. What's the deal with the low compression? Is it on all cylinders? If it's a blown head gasket that's an easy fix. If it needs rebuilt you can probably still do it for less than 1600.
