I am about to purchase my first boat. Put a deposit down on a '09 175 Sport. Any opinions?

Small inland lake in Western NY. Also have a small family, just one child but obviously we will be having friends and family. Main use is going to be tubing and fishing. Perhaps skiing when my daughter is a little older.

Really like the finish of the Sea Ray. Also like that carpets snapped out so you can either clean them or just use the boat without them.

Since it is my first boat and considering my proposed use of the boat I don't have a problem with the 4 cylinder engine. If I am completely wrong on the size of the boat or engine I am hoping my Sea Ray does a little better in trade in then say a Bayliner.

My absolute honest, semi-unfiltered opinion is that the Sea Ray Sport was the least boat for the most money. When I bought two years back (08 models) the elephant in the room was how spartan/basic the Sport line boats were for the money. Frankly, I just don't know how they sold a single boat in the Sport line. I shopped all the available brands locally and SR Sport hit the bottom of the list. Since you bought it I will say enjoy but my opinion is negative. They very well may have changed for 09 however.

agreed... for the money, i think sea rays are over priced. I see many other brands with more boat for the same price.

Even bayliner....

My experience is OLD but my uncle bought a SR 175 brand new in '95. I was never impressed with the fit/finish. I think it probably wasn't much better than Bayliners. Even now I think smaller SR's are a little overrated. In that segment I'd definitely check out a Stingray. They are a very good value and their hull design makes gets the most out of the 3.0.

I totally disagree, I feel the fit and finish on the small searays are far above many of the others. I was just at the boat show this past friday and looked at many little boats. Im always drawn back to the searays. The show prices on the searays were great, better then the bayliners which the finish on them looked like a toy.
