Hi
I live in the Sprinfield Ma area and was looking to launch in the CT river and travel down to the sound. I have been told to launch in Middletown CT, but can't find any info online. Where should I launch and is this a nice trip? Any info GREATLY appreciated. :)

Re: Conneticut boaters please HELP

Greetings!

...I live in East Haddam/Moodus Connecticut. This area is about 25 mins SE of middletown. There are no public launches in middletown. I would not recommend that area anyhow. If you want to travel on the river launch in East Haddam. The launch is located just up river of the famous goodspeed opera house. The East haddam swing bridge. Also this portion of the river is home to the Bald Eagle. (bring some binoculars!) Just passing the goodspeed you will come across Gillettes castle, home of William Gillette (sherlock holmes).

There are many other sites/attractions as you head down river. A few islands, the essex steam train etc. Let me know if you would like some more info, and I would be happy to help.

The CT DEP has a great web sight with all lake and ocean launches.
