97 Ficht 150HP. I need to connect a timing light to verify and set the ECU to the correct value.

I have an ancient inductive timing light from my younger days. Will this work? How do connect it? To read the timing, is the procedure similar to the motors of old?

The maintenance manual doesn't go into enough detail!!!

Thanks,
Jim

Before doing anything make sure timing pointer is set correctly!!! Hook your timing light to #1 cylinder and start engine. With laptop attached go to menu 5 and follow step up . Freeze timing and verify with light.Enter timing light value and it must be within 3 degrees of emm shown timing. If your light is true inductive type just hook to wire, my inductive light has batterys so check yours for the same

How do you set the timing pointer? Manual doesn't cover that procedure.
