Ive got a confusing trim question to ask. The trim on my boat don't work at the moment. The OMC trim has a corkscrew that raises and lowers the front of engine. The screw is all the way down, does that mean that the trim is up or down? The trim gauge says that the trim is up, but Im not sure if it works. With the screw all the way down, is that the way to start moving or it that why the boat bow always goes up really high when starting to move. I have a basic understanding of the trim system but this is confusing me. I have a few other question about fixing it but wanna figure this out first. Thanks in advance for you help.

with it all the way down then your drive is trimmed up or out, thats why the bow has so much rise when you take off..

Re: Confusing OMC trim question

I agree with the front of the engine as low as it will go the outdrive is trimmed all the way out or it trimed for the bow as high as it will go. Better to trim with it in the center if the motor not working. Check the two 50 amp fuses on the starboard side near the starter then the solenoides on the port side of the engine and the motor it self. Motor has grease fittings on it and the screw shaft should be lubbed. This is only if you have a 400 or 800 series stringer outdrive. Pre 1985. Really should give year and model of the drive so we know what you are talking about.
