Condenser problem with my 1976 Johnson 15hp outboard?

A friend suggests the condenser sounds to be the culprit with the starting problem in my 1976 Johnson 15hp outboard
Model 15R76. I'm using new NGK B7HS plugs and fresh fuel mix with a can of Sea Foam. I've tried gapping at both
.030 and .035 in., and moving the rich/lean settings. Initially, the engine starts after a few pulls and squeezing the
bulb to insure the fuel flow is o.k. After running for a few minutes and shutting down, re-starting is a nightmare,
although it gives signs of trying hard to get going. Could the condenser very likely be the problem? Should I try
Sea Foam directly into the carb? Help would be greatly appreciated!

Condenser could be a problem, but the least likely. You have two coils, two sets of breaker points, a driver coil, a kill switch in addition to two condensers. All must be inspected to determine the problem. Or simply start replacing parts till you get lucky.

Hey, who says it is an ignition problem anyway? How's the compression and general health of the rest of the motor?

Sea Foam probably isn't going to fix it. But it may do a good job of fouling those new plugs.
