condensation or leaking?

I've had my toon for a couple months now and have had a great time using it.

the other day I heard water sloshing around in the tubes. I trailer the boat and use it about once a week.

today I pulled the plugs from the tubes and drained quite a bit of water. I didn't measure it, but I would guess there was as much a 2-3 gallons in one tube and half of that amount in the other. The tube with more water in it sits in the sun all day long.

We've had some tropical air around here the last few weeks, could the water all be condensation, or should I consider pressure testing? Most mornings when I'm going to work there is a stripe of moisture on the driveway below the tubes, so water is certainly condensing on the outside of the tube at night.

anyone experienced this in the past?

thanks!

I doubt seriously if that is condensation. It is almost certainly leaks. But before you do the pressure testing, I would make sure all water is out and then monitor the tubes for water after each outing.

I've never heard of that much water in toons due to condensation and I live in HUMID Florida.

I too live in HUMID Virginia & my pontoon sits under a canopy but I have had no problems with condensation accumulation. I check my logs after I am out on the water & have yet to have any water in them. I'd say you most definitely have some leaks somewhere. Be careful pressure testing them. Read the "sticky" on the main page of the forum as to how to go about doing it. 3 pounds of air pressure isn't all that much but it's enough to find leaks in the logs.

Well I just back from a weeks vacation where I had the pontoon moored in the water for 8 days without removing it. When I went to drain the tubes, the one with more water in it before, again had about twice what the fuller toon had. The fuller toon had about 30 gallons in it, 15 or less in the other.

So whats my next step? Pressure test I suppose...:(

Find a competent alluminum welder who is familiar with pontoons. Most pontoon dealers can recommend one if noone is on their staff.
