I just bought my first boat. It is a 1981 concord inboard with a 305/228hp merc engine. The boat is in mint condition I feel for its age and I have run three tanks of gas through it with no issues. My ? is I can't find hardly any info on this boat, The paper work says the model is a mach 1 but any info I find does not match the boat. Is this a rare boat or what?? THANKS FOR ANY HELP

I would venture that if there is little documentation on that boat, there likely just is no lingering enthusiasm for that model and maybe very few built. Fiberglass boats, unless you see it on Fiberglassics really has no following. However, enjoy yours as if its a custom one of a kind!

Concord - I don't know where you're located but, where I boat at pool 18 on the Mississippi River, we have an unusual collection of Concords and Checkmates. There's a particular beach hangout that holds about a dozen boats and there's always 2 or 3 Concords there from the late 80s early 90s. They appear to be well built performance boats.

thats interesting riverkeg, I live in davenport and my first time out was in pool 16 2 weeks ago. The mississippi is a little intimidating for a newbie like myself. The water level is REALLY low here is it bad down there to?

I've seen a few Concordes/Checkmates on Grand Lake in Okla. in the past few years as well. They always remind me of the older Formulas/Webbcrafts. They seem to hold up well, but like the Webbcraft model of similar size, they weigh a good bit so may not be as fast as the Formulas and Fountains.

Yep Steve, it's low at pool 18 as well. A week ago Friday, we put in at Sunset Marina for an evening ride and noticed that pool 16 was low also. As long as you stay in the channel, you should be fine. Actually, it's a great time for a newbie to get out because you can see all or most of the wing dams as well a number of sandbars. Good luck with your new toy and maybe we'll see you around next year. I'll be having mine winterzied and put away soon.

Re: concord boats????

Steve,

I don't know what it is you're looking for. There aren't that many Concorde boats out there, but boat is a boat. The mechanical items on your boat are the same as any other boat with the same engine/outdrive. It's standard stuff. There aren't a whole lot of essential items on a boat that aren't standard to all boats. You can see if there are any Conorde-specific boat forums, but I doubt that there are, or that it has lots of active members.

My boat (Mark Twain) was made for over 20 years and it is about impossible to find much information on them. There is one forum, but only a few regular members who have enough input to be of any help.

If your new boat runs well and doesn't have any known issues, then pick up a mercruiser service manual for your engine/outdrive and have fun!!

If I knew what I was looking for I would not be posting this thread. But I get what your saying it does not look like there is alot of info on this boat. Its my first boat and I really like so I look for many fun boating days ahead.
